Re-leathering of bellows and reservoirs.

Here we can see a double rise, heavy pressure bellows. This had completely split along both end ribs. This bellows will now give another 50 years service, minimum.

The bellows at Princethorpe College have been strengthened along all ribs.

This is a short term option to extend the life of the bellows for around 5 to 10 years.

When replacing the leather on the bellows only the finest un-tanned, soft white sheep skin will be used. This ensures many years of good service. It is not uncommon to last up to 50 years on bellows and internal pneumatic motors, while external leatherwork could have a life span of around 30 years.
