50 years of dust.

It is estimated that the last time the organ was cleaned could have been 50 years ago or more. A country Church such as Whixall will not have the levels of dirt experienced in a City, but the dust does build up over the years and this affects the speech, pitch and tuning of the organ
These are the Great pipes. You can see the 4 Flute, Principal and 8 Flute. There is flaked paint around as well as dirt and dust in every pipe.
Here some of the Great pipes are removed to reveal the dust on the rack boards.


On the left you can see the Swell box with the pipes removed before cleaning and painting. On the right you can see our vacuum cleaner, and the debris removed from the organ.
