Concussion Motors
The concussion motor is basically a small bellows. It inflates from inside, and the wind pressure pushes against external springs. These springs are balanced so that if the wind inside the soundboard is unstable during playing, the movement of the motor removes any ‘bounce’ or wind wobble.

Below you can see motors under construction.
With the old leather removed the wooden ribs are hinged together with leather. These are then fixed in place, lining up the bottom and top of the motor. The external leathering is then carried out with the gussets
Below the completed motor is ready for installing. You can see the large black springs holding the motor closed. When the motor is fitted the wind will open the
