There is a wire for every key. That is 61 keys on each of the 4 manuals, and another 32 from the pedals. On top of this there are 3 wires for every drawstop. A signal wire to the drawstop and wires to the on and off coils for the piston operation. Each selection piston also has a wire, and this gave a grand total of 522 wires to form and shape into looms, and solder to the input pin-board on the processor system.

With this complete we moved on to output pin-board from the system. This sends all of the correct signals to the individual departments of the organ. These wires had been carefully marked, and removed from the discarded multi-contact switches. They were then reformed into new looms and soldered to the output pins from the system. Another 500 wires replaced (in all the right places we hope!!), and the organ will play again.
